Fr. Wilson’s Weekly Address
Dear Parishioners,
Congratulations to the couples of our parish who participated in the Diocesan Wedding Anniversary Celebration at the Cathedral last Sunday: Deacon Thomas & Ann Raspallo (50 years), Peter & Gail Mitchell (50 years) and Richard & Marylyn Sepe (40 years). It was an honor and a privilege to concelebrate the Mass with Bishop Tobin and pray for all the married couples of our parish, especially those celebrating major anniversaries. May God bless and strengthen the love of all our husbands and wives!
On Saturday, October 31st at 11:00 AM, our parish will be joining St. Mark Parish for a communal celebration of the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. This sacrament brings powerful graces to those who are seriously or chronically ill, the elderly or anyone about to undergo major surgery. If you would like to be part of this special celebration of healing, comfort and strength, please call Sr. Angelina Giramma at St. Mark Parish at 942-1616 to register.
Since we will be joining St. Mark’s Parish for this special Anointing of the Sick Mass this year, we will not celebrate our own Anointing of the Sick Mass in October. Instead, we will host a celebration of this sacrament in Lent 2016. Details will be announced early next year.
Finally, please remember that I am NOT notified if you (or a loved one) are admitted to a hospital, rehab center or nursing home, unless you ask someone to notify me. Current HIPAA law prevents these places from contacting clergy, religious or ministers without expressed permission from you. I will do all in my power to visit anyone who is hospitalized once I am notified—and please forgive me if I cannot get to you during your stay. My desire is to visit you but my schedule doesn’t always allow that possibility—yet another reason we need to pray constantly for more vocations to the Priesthood! Additionally, hospital chaplains are assigned at all hours in every hospital. Please don’t hesitate to contact the hospital chaplain in an emergency. God bless you in the week ahead.
